On Sharks & Humanity

" On Shark and Humanity " is a must see contemporary art exhibition happening now at the Hong Kong maritime museum until the 30 of September 2017.
This is the 5th edition of the exhibition which started in Monaco, Moscow, Beijing and Singapore, where 36 contemporary artists joined forced together in the aim of raising the public awareness about the pivotal sharks number plays in maintaining the balance of the maritime ecosystem, and the urgent need for shark conservation.

I must say the exhibition sends a very powerful message,  about the negative impact of the shark fin trade and how is it affecting and endangering the life of sharks and the whole ecosystem
I was very touched by the art work, and the way the installation was made inside the maritime museum along with the permanent exhibition of the museum which takes you right to heart of the sea life, not the mission the view that comes along.

Shark finning kills the shark, because the removal of the fins from the sharks, happens when the shark is still alive, they are then discarded back to the ocean,  unable to swim without their fins they sink in the bottom of the ocean and die of suffocation or eaten by other predators.

Shark finning increased since 1997 largely due to the increasing demand for shark fins for shark fin soup and traditional cures.

Cute monkey sketch

I enjoyed sketching this cute little monkey in my sketch book, to my " it's ok to color outside the lines " challenge, this project has been really inspiring to me and it really led me to other projects on a higher level. The challenge of this project has been by far the best exercice to face a blank page with no fear, as I don't have the pressure to do good, so i am relaxed and allowing my mind and hand to explore with whatever I like.
animals is not a subject I used to work on, but since a little a while when I did my first acrylic on canvas Dog painting for a friend, I decided to explore more into this subject.

Central Art Fair - Part 2

As promised part 2 of the Central Art fair, as i said before there were so many things to see, and this kind of fair should be visited on multiple days, but I only went for the last day luckily, so all my informations and appreciations had to be condensed, but I loved every bit of it.

Wolfgag Stiller, loved his work, he is a german artist seing his sculptures lives is much more expressive than my photos here, but I had to share it with you because it really impressed me, his work is very beautiful.
This series of sculptures is called " the matchsticks " his art has deep meaning,  the life sized burnt down matchsticks with human heads represent how a person can be burnt out and left behind in a society that only focuses on economics and growth.
His work is inspired a lot from the buddhist philosophy .

Click the link below for more images about Stiller's work on the internet, as it will show you a clear images about the details of the head of his sculptures.

keeping up with the Resolutions

It is indeed a great year, as I promised myself lots of artistic creations and expressions, even though I am not sharing with you as much as I want too but I am working hard on my artistic projects and visiting a lots exhibitions .
From the beginning of my year I have been blessed with meeting a succession of great people and artists, who inspired me, guided me and advised me.
It is just so amazing when you decide to take things in hand and make your own path, how things can change around you,  and how somehow you end up meeting the right persons, being in the right place at the right time.

I noticed asking questions also helps, I was having a nice conversation with a friend the other day and she said  " if you start asking the right questions, you will end up finding the right answers " isn't those words so powerful ?  "you will end up finding the answers ". I thought it was great.

There is something else that changed in me since I took my resolutions, well I am finding more ways to motivate myself,  we all know and heard that 90 % of the people will let go of their new years resolution in just couple of weeks of months. My biggest cheerleader in my life was my mom, she used to always say " you can do it " but mom that's so hard, she would answer no you will see "YOU CAN DO IT " and i used to always end up believing her and make it happen, but my mom is angel now she can't physically be here for me, so it was hard for me, but now i am determined of being my own cheerleader,  so  now every day when I wake up in the morning I listen to a motivational podcast or read something positive, and it is just great, it's amazing that when you keep filling your ears and your mind with motivational and positive messages  your life drastically changes,  and even your perception of life changes .

I know art is filling my life, art is making me alive again and it always did. so hopefully in the coming weeks i will share more and more from what I am doing .
Cheers and keep up with your resolutions .

Art Central, contemporary art Fair PART 1

It's art week in Hong Kong, while it was a busy month for me on a professional level, finally today I got the chance to visit " ART CENTRAL" thanks to my friend who invited me to see the show.
"Art Central" is contemporary art fair,  this year it was the second edition of the show that welcomed over 100 galleries from 21 countries.

Seing other's people's art is always resourceful, every person in life needs to fill his soul with some kind of art, everything in life is art, every aspect of it is about design, colors and creations.
So here is a glimpse of what caught my eyes in todays show.

I loved this sculpture, made from gold bronze " The great jumper ".
It is the work of the artist Jiang Shuo and Wu Shaoxiang both contemporary sculptors.

Oil painting project

It is amazing how when you allow yourself to relax and go with the flow of your creations, how much you realize there are some things you thought it was impossible for you to make and yet you manage to make them.
It's all related to my new year resolution, more creation more art. It's been a while i met this wonderful artist who has a very discreet atelier in discovery bay, from time to time i used to go there to buy some art stuff and try to take a look at what was going on, and finally i took to step to enroll to one of her art class when she told me just come over we will have fun. And let me tell you I am having a blast and discovering new potential and new techniques .

here is my new challenge its a portrait of a child sepia colors.

It was very stressful as i started sketching my subject i realized that i have chosen a hard one, i was considering to change the subject, then the teacher said just try a bit more, and then you can change if you dont like.
today was my second session, the oil painting medium is really a nice medium can't wait to finish this project

we all need a good teacher in life, we can't learn enough, it is amazing just how little guidance from my teacher helped me  manage the brush technique to have this effect.

session 3

Session 5

I am enjoying so much my classes in this cozy atelier, can't wait to finish my project

The Junk

Facing my fears and trying water colour for the first time, it's really nice as a medium but not as easy as acrylic.

Music is a moral law

" Music is a moral law.
It gives soul to the universe,
wings to the mind,
flight to the imagination,
and charm and gaiety to life and to everything "

Believe in your dreams and they will come true

Today's quote is about believing in your dreams,  your visions

"Believe in your dreams and they will come true "

If you really and truly believe that you will
Achieve what you want, than you will .
